The experts at RAE Systems are offering both a diffusion version of the QRAE II and one with a powerful internal pump for sampling air from remote areas prior to entry.

Both models are incredible durable, passing the industry IP-65 rating for dust and water resistance. The QRAE II is made for the real world of confined space work where gas monitors are repeatedly banged against ladders, and bumped along passageways. It is a testament to the quality of RAE Systems gas monitors that these units continue to stand the test of time.

The QRAE II monitor is available in three configurations:

For confined space work, the QRAE II with internal pump is the most popular. By attaching the Tygon tubing, the monitor is able to sample from a sewer, silo, or tunnel and test the air quality and gas levels before a team enters. “Permit required” confined spaces often require ventilation of the posted locations before any worker can enter. The QRAE II with sampling pump allows the team to sample safely, and enter as soon as gas levels have reached safe concentrations. What is more, the pump can be easily removed from a QRAE II pump version gas detector if the safety team wants to use the device as a diffusion monitor and extend the life of the batteries.

Without the built-in pump, the diffusion version of the QRAE II has the advantage of superior battery life (so much battery life being taken by the constantly monitoring pump). The diffusion QRAE II is also much quieter than the pump-equipped model. The Confined Space Kit (CSK1) is available for the QRAE II diffusion monitor for companies where remote sampling is an occasional requirement. The CSK1 features a hand pump to bring remote samples to the monitor manually.
