Update: Petzl is on an extended back order on the TWIN pulley. The TWIN pulley will be substituted with Yates Mountain Lite Double Blue pulley. The Mountain Lite is a sealed bearing prusik minding pulley. Features a 2.5 inch sheave (full, true 2 inch tread diameter), and certified to NFPA G 1983/2006 ed., weighing 15 oz.
This exclusive confined space access kit is recommended by Petzl Pro in their Confined Space Rescue courses at the Petzl factory in Utah. While there are less expensive pulley systems out there, nothing compares to the control and reliability of Petzl Pro products. If your confined space team regularly uses this type of equipment, the Petzl Confined Space Access Kit will provide years of reliable service.
This kit is valued by teams in the field for the ease in which it goes together. Each piece of the pulley system fits smartly together and can be attached to lines in place or assembled quickly to get the team working on the job, and not the pulley assembly.
Petzl Confined Space Access Kit includes:
Petzl D20 I'D S Descender
Two (2) Petzl P65A Twin Pulley
Three (3) Petzl M34TL AM'D Triact-Lock Carabiners
200 feet of Petzl Vector 11mm Rope
Optional: Petzl R41 Rope Bucket Bag
For the team members working outside of your confined space, raising and lowering loads with this Petzl pulley system is smooth as silk. If you are being lowered into the confined space, you will appreciate the solid control and pace of the lowering system. Climbing and technical mountain rescue provide the laboratory for Petzl products. Each piece of this kit has been individually tested to perform flawlessly under difficult situations. The materials used in the pulleys, descender and carabiners are the lightest and strongest that great technology and design can produce. Confined space work demands professional tools your team can trust. Trust Petzl.

The
I’D S Self-Braking Descender allows incredible control for the rate of descent. The ergonomic design makes set-up simple and operation intuitive. The I’D S descender is made for professional environments and loads. But even in controlled environments, unexpected things can happen. That’s why the I’D S features an anti-panic component. If the Descender handle is pulled too aggressively in the lowering of a load, a pivoting cam is automatically released which activates the braking feature stopping descent until everything is back in control.
With the Confined Space Access Kit the I’D S Descender is attached to a fixed point on the outside of the confined space entry point. To lower personnel or equipment, the team member rotates the handle until the person or gear begins to lower; controlling the speed with the position of the handle.
The Twin pulley moves sheaves over oil-packed bearings with 97% efficiency. Easy to attach and release during set-up and break-down, the Twin accepts up to three carabiners for positioning and anchor alternatives. In the Confined Space Access Kit, two Twin pulleys are used to create a 4:1 purchase and provide incredibly smooth lifting and descent.
The
AM’D Triact-Lock Carabiner is a D-shaped carabiner, which tests out to be the strongest of all carabiners shapes, with a smart, spring-loaded closing system. Opening requires an extra twist, so unintentionally opening this carabiner from Petzl is highly unlikely: a plus for confined space teams who rely so heavily upon their equipment. .
As with the other components of the Confined Space Entry Kit, the
Vector Rope is specialized equipment. Petzl recommends this line because it is designed to coil and flake well and resist kinking or knotting (unless intended of course). Vector Rope is strong enough two people and gear, so it makes an ideal rope for rescue work. Vector Rope comes in 200 ft. lengths. Only one coil is included in this kit.
The optional
Petzl R41 Rope Bucket Bag is highly recommended to keep your line organized. Designed for rope access work, the Rope Bucket makes it easy to haul your line without getting it fouled. Two padded and semi-rigid handles make it ideal for moving around the worksite.
This efficient pulley system is recommended by
Petzl Pro for raising or lowering one or two people in confined space situations. This system relies upon having sufficient anchor points overhead for the top Twin and Carabiner, and at the attachment point of the I’D S Descender. These anchor points must be rated to hold 5000 pounds to be accepted as adequate by OSHA, or a similarly approved tripod may be used. If space above the confined space entry point is limited, or if hauling cannot be done in the vicinity of the anchors or point of entry, as is sometimes the case with ventilation shafts, manholes, grain silos or tanks, consider another system, the
Confined Space Rescue Kit also from Petzl Pro.
Petzl Pro manufactures climbing and access gear with professional applications in mind. Their expertise is derived from over 60 years of mountain climbing and rescue. The resulting technical rescue and access systems are among the most comfortable, reliable, and well-thought-out solutions available.
Confined space entry teams, or anyone who has need to use a reliable system like the Confined Space Access Kit on a regular basis, will appreciate the reliability and durability of Petzl Pro products.
Knowing which products to choose when building a confined space entry system has always been a challenge for many of our customers. At PK Safety, we try to make even the most sophisticated and technical products easier to understand. That’s why we sent our team to Utah to participate in their Confined Space Rescue classes. They brought back more than just great product information; they brought back knowledge of the kinds of situations confined space professionals deal with, and how best to solve the difficulties particular to confined space access, retrieval and rescue.
Please feel free to call our staff if you have any questions. We will help find the right kit to meet your site goals. Whether those goals involve upward evacuation, downward evacuation, horizontal rescue or some combination, we will work with you to create a system that works.
Confined space entry and rescue teams must be highly trained for the work they do. The tools used must be reliable to a fault. Operating systems and plans for rescue can only be developed by suitably trained safety team members who have the ability to assess and recommend solutions to the site-specific dynamics. We are here to help carry out those plans with you, and the products from Petzl Pro can be relied upon to perform as promised.
