The Sealed Blok self-retracting lifeline from DBI/SALA is a tough piece of fall protection kit. Compared to a traditional lanyard, the Blok helps reduce on site trips, snagging and reduce fall clearance requirements, as the SRL Blok can stop a fall in a matter of inches, as opposed to feet!

Over and above other SRLs the Blok is a completely sealed IP68, weather and waterproof unit. Each model features DBI-Sala’s innovative RSQ rescue system, making it equally great for work at heights or confined space entry.

As the bulk of the SRL’s inner workings are securely stored away in a tough aluminum housing, with stainless steel end plates, you can be sure of the unit’s corrosion resistance. Not only that, the IP68 rating means the Blok can actually be submerged without any water entering the sealed unit! That is weatherproofing.

The Sealed Blok Lanyard is incredibly heavy duty, too. It can bear a load up to 140kg in weight (420lbs), while the gated snap hooks are able to see off a force of 3,600lbs. All of which gives you the option of carrying more tools with you, making your work site that much more flexible.

The strong 50ft (15m) cable is made from galvanized steel (on the standard models), although stainless steel options are available for harsher work environments and coastal sites, where a greater degree of corrosion resistance is required (high altitude sites or off shore wind farms/oilrigs, for example).

Outside of these safety facts there is a world of innovation crammed into this self-retracting lanyard; DBI-SALA’s years of expertise in the fall safety industry really do shine through.

The RSQ system is a specialized automatic rescue system, which kicks in the event a fall is arrested. After this has been stabilized a special centrifugal brake slowly lowers the user to the ground, and safety, automatically.

There is a retrieval version of the Blok available: this comes complete with full winch functionality, letting you raise and lower personnel and equipment with the Blok. This makes it idea as a form of emergency rescue kit for confined space work, or just for work at heights transport. The crank handle is easily removed, and a special mounting bracket lets the Blok attach easily to a hoist or anchor point. All of which means you don’t have to buy and maintain a separate winch! Saving you time and money.

Other innovations such as the FAST-Line system are in place to make your life easier. This allows for simple and quick changing of the lifeline (in the event of damage etc), requires very little training and is designed to be foolproof; the Blok will not function unless the cable is installed properly.

The innovative i-Safe equipment tracking system from DBI-SALA is also present. Via handheld scanners you can log the RFID tags, serial numbers and any and all maintenance of your devices, this is automatically stored in a secure web portal that makes keeping track of accountability and checks a breeze. These tags require no battery, are dust, grease and salt-water proof, meaning they will last for at least as long as the Blok itself (which is a hell of a long time).
